Welcome all! I'm tickled that you found your way here. Allow me to introduce myself and this blog!
Me: A stubborn, yet compassionate, horse girl and dancer since childhood. Growing up in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom required hardiness and fostered my love of the outdoors and real maple syrup. Winters were long and cold, so I spent most of my free time (after finishing horse chores) at the dance studio or rehearsing for school concerts or plays. Summers were mainly spent with my childhood mare, Misty, riding in the ring, traversing the trails to the beach by the lake, or doing more chores. I am the middle child with two awesome sisters who shared my interest in performing arts. Mom and Dad donated many hours of their lives to watching our dance recitals and supervising horse-related activities.
I went on to complete a double major in Biology and Dance at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA. My interest in anatomy and kinesiology came mostly from my dance background and led me to pursue my Doctor of Physical Therapy from Regis University in Denver, CO (2019). I began my career at an outpatient PT clinic in Fort Collins, CO for two years, where I worked with adult and pediatric patients with orthopedic and neurologic diagnoses. I then realized I didn't have enough horses in my life, so I transitioned to equine rehabilitation via my certification from the University of TN and moved to an equine fitness and rehab center in Snowmass, CO. Since 2019, I have also been using the movement of the horse as a treatment tool (hippotherapy) to provide PT to children on weekends at a small ranch in Littleton, CO.
While I search for my next equine partner, I am also manifesting and planning my own horse and human PT business venture. I'm excited to branch out and help more wonderful creatures live their best lives. I always do my best to collaborate with patients and their healthcare team and to provide compassionate, professional, and holistic care. I look forward to carrying these values forward into my next chapter!
I aim to grow, inspire, lead, and connect through my love of human and equine health and movement.
This blog is part of my commitment to growth and connection. My commitment to "forging on!" Here's to creating yet another community for curiosity and support. I'm excited to share new knowledge and experiences with the intention of being helpful. I hope you stay tuned for thoughtful, educational musings about topics spanning from anatomy/kinesiology and recent research to personal stories and exercise recommendations.
